SINGLE DENTAL IMPLANT
A dental implant is a small titanium screw placed in the jawbone in place of a missing tooth's root. Once the bone has healed around it, it holds a new crown.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
How much do dental implants abroad cost?
It depends on how many implants you need, any bone graft and travel for each trip. As a guide, a single implant with crown in India starts from about £600 (US$800), and a fixed full-arch bridge on implants for one jaw from about £3,500 (US$4,650), October 2026. The dental centre confirms the final price after reviewing your records.
How many trips will I need for dental implants in India?
Usually at least two: one to place the implant and one to fit the new teeth. In between, the bone usually needs about 3 to 6 months to heal around the implant. In total, treatment can take from 6 months to more than a year, and the treating dentist sets how long you stay each time.
Who is suitable for dental implants?
Only a dentist can decide, after examining your jawbone, gums, other teeth and general health with scans. Smoking and past gum disease make problems around an implant more likely.
What are the risks of dental implants?
Swelling, bruising and soreness are common after surgery. Your dentist should explain the risks, including infection, an implant not bonding with the bone, gum and bone problems around the implant and, sometimes, nerve damage in the lower jaw. There is no lifetime guarantee with implants, so ask the clinic what guarantee it gives and who pays if something needs fixing.
How do I look after implants back home?
Brush twice a day, clean between your teeth every day and keep regular check-ups. Register with a dentist at home before you travel, and give them your treatment notes, the type of implant used and the clinic's contact details. Repairs at home are usually private treatment in the UK.
Is dental tourism safe?
All dental treatment has risks, at home or abroad. The UK General Dental Council cannot regulate dentists in other countries, so it advises checking the dentist's registration, speaking to your own dentist before you go, and asking what aftercare and complaints process the clinic offers.
Do I need a visa for dental treatment in India from Kenya?
Yes. Kenyan and UK passport holders can apply online for India's e-Medical visa, which needs a letter from the treating centre and allows multiple entries for one year. Travellers arriving from Kenya also need an original yellow fever certificate. See our Indian medical visa guide.
